Engineer – Mechanical, UK Water
ROLE
– Design and specify mechanical process plant on projects to meet or exceed client expectations
– Manage selected projects or components of projects for the Water Mechanical team
– Manage the production and verification of analysis and design, including drawings and reports
– Take responsibility for technical resource allocation, quality assurance, and client feedback
– Engage with various Arcadis Regional offices/teams regarding safe design requirements
– Flag risks at appropriate levels
– Resolve issues and create strong relationships with project colleagues
– Develop technical methodologies to add value to the scope
– Guide junior colleagues
– Review work and drive the culture of checking and accountability in the team
– Familiarize with client-specific specifications, processes, and technical preferences
– Engage and participate with the relevant Communities of Practice
– Liaise and assist the project manager to ensure commercial aspects relating to the design team can achieve a successful result
– Develop plans and budgets for medium-size and/or complex tasks and monitor progress
– Identify opportunities and drive implementation of re-engineering strategies to maximize the value of design input
– Work in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design
– Provide technical advice to project team members
– Handle multiple management responsibilities, overseeing the work and/or development of multiple colleagues
– Design Health & Safety management for the project works
– Prepare design input to Design Team and coordinate with other staff to prepare drawings
– Liaise with other team members to produce good design solutions as per best design practice
– Keep up to date with innovations and developments
– Perform other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time
REQUIREMENTS
– 5 – 8+ years of relevant experience in design of water and wastewater treatment systems, drainage, and pumping stations
– Registered or accredited professional, preferably MIMechE with CEng/IEng or chartered/incorporated member of similar standing relevant professional organizations like IMechE, IET UK
– Sound technical knowledge, academically good
– Familiar with British codes, drawing standards, and practices related to Mechanical/water utility modelling and drawing production
– Awareness of software used for BIM modelling like Revit
– Strong command of BIM/digital/data analytics software as applicable
– Demonstrated delivery acumen
– Experience in mechanical design, specifications, drawings, and BIM models for medium to large scale projects related to Water and Wastewater Treatment plants
– Knowledge of relevant British Standards is preferable
– Excellent oral/visual/written communication skills in English language
– Experience in working with remote clients and multi-disciplinary teams
– Good knowledge of Microsoft office
