ROLE
– Review product designs and provide guidance to ensure compliance with applicable standards such as UL, CSA, FM, ATEX, IEC, NEC, and related regulations for industrial and hazardous‑location products
– Coordinate with local and international test laboratories and certification bodies to obtain and maintain product certifications
– Evaluate drawings, technical documentation, manuals, and descriptive reports for standards compliance
– Prepare certification assessments, construction reviews, test plans, sample requirements, and support execution of testing through internal and external laboratories
– Identify compliance gaps and collaborate with design teams to implement corrective actions
– Provide guidance to internal teams and external customers on product safety certifications for both ordinary and hazardous locations
– Support engineering change activities by assessing the impact of design or documentation changes on existing certifications
– Monitor evolving standards and regulations and communicate potential impacts to product engineering teams
– Collaborate with global certification engineers to align on regulatory updates and best practices
– Manage certification renewal planning and execution to ensure ongoing compliance for existing products
– Maintain accurate and complete certification documentation, including records, markings, declarations of conformity, and document control processes
– Support all departments with interpretation and application of applicable standards, regulations, and directives
– Review installation and maintenance documentation for ATEX and IECEx products to ensure safe customer use
– Review and approve product design or documentation changes related to ATEX and IECEx requirements
– Approve justified technical deviations and communicate relevant changes to notified bodies as required
REQUIREMENTS
– A bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
– Relevant experience in product certification, compliance, or regulatory engineering within industrial or hazardous‑location environments
– Hands‑on experience with ordinary and hazardous location standards such as IEC 60079, UL, CSA, FM, ATEX, and IECEx
– Experience working with certification agencies such as UL, CSA, Intertek, TÜV, or equivalent bodies
– Familiarity with product categories such as solenoid valves, pneumatic and air‑operated valves, relief valves, and shut‑off valves
– Ability to interpret pneumatic circuit diagrams, flow diagrams, and ISO symbols
– Proficiency with common productivity tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
– Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD and strong working experience with Creo for design review and collaboration
– Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities effectively
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions

– A strong willingness to learn and adapt in a changing regulatory environment
– Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory management systems
– Experience with EMI/EMC testing and compliance requirements
– Experience with LVD testing and regulatory requirements
– Hands‑on experience conducting product safety testing
– Working knowledge of CE marking; familiarity with UKCA marking is an added advantage
