Diploma or B.Tech in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, ITI Electrician certification, or relevant technical training. Practical experience with power systems, electrical troubleshooting, and safety protocols is crucial. Solar/wind-specific training from MNRE centers adds significant value.

Many solar and wind plants are in remote areas, requiring technicians to be stationed on-site or nearby. However, senior roles, control center operators, and remote monitoring positions can be city-based. Some companies operate rotation schedules (15 days on-site, 15 days off) for better work-life balance.

Career progression typically moves from technician roles to site engineers, then to site managers, regional O&M managers, and operations heads. Lateral moves into engineering, project management, or business development are also common with experience and additional training.
