ESS System Designer
ROLE
– Assist in the technical evaluation and selection of battery technologies based on project and grid requirements
– Support in preparing system design inputs for BESS sizing, architecture, and integration with solar/wind plants
– Coordinate with engineering teams and EPC partners for layout design, system configurations, and interface requirements
– Review and analyze OEM datasheets, specifications, and performance guarantees for energy storage components
– Support the shortlisting and technical evaluation of battery, inverter, and BMS/EMS suppliers
– Participate in technical discussions, bid evaluations, FAT/SAT inspections, and documentation reviews
– Maintain vendor performance data and assist in developing standardized technical comparison templates
– Collaborate with project and commissioning teams for installation, testing, and integration of BESS systems
– Monitor adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and safety protocols
– Assist in preparing technical documentation, inspection checklists, and commissioning reports
– Collect and analyze BESS operation data
– Support root cause analysis of technical issues and coordinate with OEMs for resolution
– Identify opportunities for performance improvement, cost reduction, and efficiency enhancement
– Ensure all projects comply with relevant IEC, UL, and BIS standards for battery safety and testing
– Support internal initiatives for R&D, energy efficiency, and lifecycle management
REQUIREMENTS
– Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Chemical Engineering
– 5–8 years of experience in battery technology, BESS projects, or renewable energy systems
– Strong understanding of battery systems, BMS, EMS, PCS, and energy storage integration
– Experience with utility-scale BESS projects
– Familiarity with safety and performance standards such as IEC 62619, UL 9540A, and IEEE 1547
– Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, and analytical tools used for energy modeling
