What is EcoVadis and why do companies get assessed?
EcoVadis is a sustainability ratings platform used by over 130,000 companies worldwide. Buyers use it to screen and monitor their suppliers for sustainability performance across Environment, Labor, Ethics, and Procurement.
If a client has asked you to complete an EcoVadis assessment, it is typically a condition of remaining in- or being considered for- their supply chain. The higher your scores, the hhigher your odds of attracting new business opportunities.
How long does an EcoVadis assessment take?
The assessment questionnaire typically takes 2-4 weeks to complete properly, with evidence gathering often being the most time-consuming part. In case all the data isn’t available the timeline can stretch to 10-12 weeks.
EcoVadis then takes up to 3 months to issue your score. Working with a consultant significantly reduces preparation time.
What score do I need to remain a preferred supplier?
This varies by buyer, but Silver (55–64) is increasingly the minimum threshold for preferred supplier status at most large multinationals. Some buyers now require Gold for high-value or long-term contracts.
Can I get a time/cost estimate for my project before signing up?
Yes, we don’t formally begin our contract until you give us your final approval on the predetermined dates and price. Until we receive your final approval, our high-level conversations and introductory calls are completely free.
Can I improve my EcoVadis score between assessments?
You cannot request a re-assessment mid-cycle, but you can use the time to close gaps- updating policies, collecting evidence, and implementing practices- so your next assessment reflects real progress. A consultant can help you build a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) that EcoVadis recognises.
What's the difference between EcoVadis and ISO 14001?
ISO 14001 is a certified Environmental Management System standard. EcoVadis is a ratings platform that assesses sustainability performance across four themes, of which environment is one. Having ISO 14001 helps your EcoVadis Environment score but doesn’t replace it.
How do you vet your EcoVadis consultants?
