Job Description
The Senior Android Developer is a
hands-on senior contributor to Esyasoft's Android app, a key surface for our
clients and end-users globally. The role combines high-quality individual
delivery with active mentorship of mid-level Android engineers and contribution
to platform direction.
The role owns:
•
Hands-on delivery of features and improvements to
Esyasoft's Android app
•
Quality, performance and reliability of Android
codebase
•
Code review and mentoring of less senior Android
engineers (as required)
•
Contribution to architectural decisions on the Android
codebase
Key Responsibilities & Areas of Ownership
A.
Android Development
•
Maintain and develop high-quality Android code aligned
to agreed technical requirements
•
Work closely with the Lead Mobile Apps Developer and
wider tech team to refine requirements and create technical documentation
•
Provide hands-on technical knowledge in Android
architecture, design and ongoing improvement
B.
Architecture, Patterns and Practice
•
Develop using modern Android architecture (MVI, Jetpack
Compose)
•
Champion SOLID principles, clean architecture and
testable code
•
Contribute to architectural decisions across the
Android codebase
C.
Quality, Code Review and Releases
•
Write well-tested code (unit tests as standard);
partner with the QA team on integration and UI test coverage where relevant
•
Participate in code review with rigor
•
Support release management — staged roll outs,
monitoring, post-release follow-through
D.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Mentoring
•
Communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders
including product and design — explain trade offs without losing them
•
Work with backend and data teams to ensure any blockers
or issues with APIs or data are resolved
E.
Security, Data Privacy and Compliance
•
Adhere to Esyasoft's data protection and security
policies — Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001 and PCI-DSS where relevant
•
Embed secure-by-default patterns in Android-specific
code — secure storage, certificate pinning, secrets management
F.
Learning and Engineering Growth
•
Keep up with the evolving Android ecosystem — new APIs,
library updates, platform changes
•
Bring practical innovation into the team — prove value
first, then adopt
Requirements

Required
Skills & Experience
•
Demonstrable senior-level commercial experience as a
native Android developer
•
Strong commercial experience with Kotlin (and Java
where existing) — MVVM, Jetpack components and the modern Android development
stack
•
Extensive experience of RESTful API and third-party
integration
•
Experience of TDD, BDD or other code testing practices;
strong understanding of data structures and algorithms
Desirable
Skills & Experience
•
Commercial experience with Google Maps or other mapping
platforms; e-commerce or payment gateways
•
Experience with Kotlin Coroutines, Flows and Jetpack
Compose
•
Exposure to automated UI testing (Espresso) and Android
Auto or wearables

Use of Technologies
Esyasoft operates primarily within
the Google ecosystem and includes the requirement to work as a competent user

Android (Kotlin primary; Java where existing), Jetpack,

RESTful APIs, Firebase, Google Play services, mapping
and payment integrations
•
Mobile CI/CD (Fastlane, GitHub Actions); crash and
performance tooling (Crashlytics, Sentry)
This role may also require
flexibility to work with new mobile platforms and tools as Esyasoft's mobile
strategy evolves.
